According to the U.S. Department of Justice, there were over 24 million crimes reported in the U.S. during 2003. Of those, almost 5.6 million were personal crimes, while 18.6 million were property crimes. Twenty-two out of every 1,000 American households were affected by crimes of violence and 163 out of every 1,000 households were affected by property crimes. With these kinds of statistics, it’s understandable that Americans are concerned with personal safety and the safety of their homes and businesses. The Michigan State Police offer these tips for personal safety:
1. Stay alert. Keep your mind on your surroundings, as well as who is in front of you and who is behind you. Carry a person safety products such as stun guns, Taser C2, mace pepper spray or a personal alarm at all times and trust no one.

2. Walk purposefully, stand tall, and make eye contact with people around you.

3. Trust your instincts. If you feel uncomfortable in a situation, leave.

4. While driving, keep your car in good repair with the gas tank at least half full.

5. Park in well-lit areas and always lock your doors. When you exit your car have your personal safety products ready .

6. Put valuables out of sight or in the trunk.

7. Drive with the doors locked and the windows up.

8. Check the floorboards and front and rear seats before getting in your car.

9. In an elevator, stand near the controls. If someone suspicious enters, get off the elevator. Always have your mace pepper spray, taser C2 or stun guns ready to fire.

10. At home, don’t give personal information over the telephone to people you don’t know.

11. Install a peephole in your front door, and don’t open the door to anyone you don’t know. Verify the identity of service people before allowing them in. Use a wireless home security system and a wireless home security alarm.
1.Do not hide house keys in mailboxes, planters, or under doormats. 2. Do not include personal identification on key rings. 3. Have a separate ignition key to leave with mechanics or parking attendants. 4. If you lose your house keys or move into a new house, have the locks re-keyed. 5. When going away, make sure your home looks occupied. Put interior lights on timers, arrange to have mail and newspaper delivery stopped, and close and lock your garage door. 6. Install and use good deadbolt locks on your doors; lock sliding glass doors or use a dowel in the door track. 7. Trim shrubbery hiding doors or windows and cut tree branches that could help a thief climb to second story windows. 8. Make sure all porches, entrances, and yards are well lit. When it comes to personal safety, many Americans are going a step further to ensure their own personal safety and the safety of their homes and offices. Car alarms, business alarms, and home alarms are important components of personal safety. Many people carry whistles on their key rings or in their pockets; when personal safety is at risk, blowing whistles can attract the attention of passersby, who can then call for help. Some people carry mace pepper spray in their pockets, briefcases or purses, while others carry concealed stun guns to the extent that the law allows. You might also consider a taser C2. Those who leave their children in the care of others often use baby cams or other video recorders and hidden cameras to ensure that the caregivers are acting appropriately.

Apartment Tips Fot Women

mailbox.jpgMailbox Area

This area is one of the most dangerous and you should always keep your guard up along with some kind of personal safety products such as mace pepper spray,  stun guns, a taser C2 or personal alarm. Criminals keep a close eye on mailbox sections of an apartment complex. Why? Because people are pretty predictable as to when they check their mail. Attackers like the fact that if they observe you for a few days, they can pretty much predict when you are going to check your mailbox. Usually people go to this section when they drive home from work. When you approach your mailbox, look around you. If there are a few people present, it is safer, but if you are the only one there, please be very cautious, especially at night. Always prepare your self defense product and have it in your hand and prepared to be used, prior to approaching the mailbox area.

Club House Area

Some complexes have club houses to rent them out for parties, but others have indoor recreational things such as pool and ping pong tables, pin ball machines, video games etc. Club houses can be very popular, especially on the weekends and in the evenings. Many times you will encounter people who are drinking alcoholic beverages that they brought from their apartment. It is always wise to go to club houses with a friend. Once in a while you will encounter a sore looser at a card game, for example, that can become violent and take it out on whomever is nearby. If you meet a new person, be careful on giving out your apartment number. Be aware also if someone is following you back to your apartment. If you are in fear of being followed, go to a friend’s apartment, if you know they are home. Always have your mace pepper spray or stun gun ready to spray or shoot.

Tennis Court or Pool Area

The tennis court is pretty safe because you usually are accompanied by a tennis partner. The pool area is also pretty safe since it is very open and everyone is in plain site. Even when you are alone, an attacker will avoid an area that many people can see easily. Just make sure that when you leave the pool area, you prepare your self defense product ahead of time, prior to walking back to your apartment. This is important, because, since you are in plain site, that also means that a potential attacker or stalker could have also been looking at you. Keep in mind, that if you are going to the pool on a regular basis, try to go at different times of the day. This will make your schedule less predictable. If you are alone, try NOT to go at night. Always have your self defense weapon ready for at any given time you need to be ready to shoot your taser C2, stun guns, or mace pepper spray.

Laundry Room Area

Here is another section of an apartment complex that is very dangerous. For one, it is noisy because of the machines. This noise can easily cover up someones scream or cry for help. For some reason, people feel they need to chat with whomever else is doing laundry. This can be a great tool for an assailant to get more information from you that you shouldn’t have given to him in the first place! Be careful what you tell a complete stranger. Even if he is the cutest guy, and my, so meticulous with his neatly folded laundry! Impressive right? NO! Potential attackers play a caring role to make you feel comfortable and therefore letting your guard down. Again in this situation make sure you have a self defense products readily available.

Trash Dump Area

This area is of much concern because most people dump their trash at night, after dinner. If you don’t want to wait until morning, please be very careful about this. If your trash dump area is dark, ask the apartment complex manager to install some kind of lighting around it. This may prove to be difficult but it is worth a try. You might want to consider asking a few female friends, that live there, to join in your request. Always take your self defense product with you and prepare it to be used. Always move cautiously toward the site and look around carefully as you approach. If you see someone that you do not recognize near it, maybe leaning against their car or smoking… Just turn around and go back home. You can always try later. It is better to be cautious than hurt or killed. If your trash is heavy, just set it down somewhere temporarily, where you can pick it up later. By carrying your self defense weapons you will be a target to be reckon with.

When The Bite Is Worse Than The Bark

80146animal-rep.jpgThe best way is to be prepared and one way is to carry Dog Repellent, especially if you know that there are loose dogs in your neighborhood.

With Dog Repellent you’ll never have to feel threatened again when a strange dog or other animal approaches you.

Dog Repellent is good for joggers, walkers, bikers, delivery people, and mail carriers. In fact, Dog Repellent is good for anybody who is walking out on the street.

It has a velcro-like attachment to secure the unit to a bike and also has a belt clip and key chain for easy access which is just what you want in case Fido gets nasty.

Dog Repellent is EPA approved for humane protection against animal attacks. It is non-lethal and non-flammable and the effects last up to 40 minutes but with no long term effects on the animal.

Dog Repellent Such as Mace Muzzle Spray is pepper-based which means it is an irritant to the dog’s mucous membranes (eyes, nose and throat). When sprayed, the dog will rub their eyes and most likely roll on the ground because of the pain and irritation. They certainly won’t be thinking about you anymore!

OK, what do you do if you see a dog approaching you in a threatening manner? Number one, don’t panic!

Slowly take your Mace Muzzle Dog Repellent in your hand. The unit should shoot a burst up to 10 feet which gives you time to aim your Dog Repellent at the dog’s face and squeeze 2-3 bursts, especially at the nose and eyes. You should have approximately 10 bursts in a new unit so there is plenty of reserve in case you miss.

Because you’re already scared your hand and brain might not be talking to each other correctly.

So, to make sure that you won’t spray yourself, the Dog Repellent has a flip-top safety cap so you can’t accidentally hit the red button if you hold the unit backward.

Also, Dog Repellent has a finger-grip dispenser so you can easily feel the proper direction to aim, even in the dark.

Make sure you hold the Dog Repellent in an upright position or it might not function properly. If you try ‘firing’ it on its side or upside down you will get the same effect as trying to squirt Redi-Whip when it’s upright — not much output.

After you’ve sprayed the animal get the heck out of there! Don’t stop to watch your work or feel sorry for the poor little doggie. This doggie was going to make you an unhappy pin cushion a minute before.

One more thing — dogs aren’t the only animals that can attack you on the street. There are many people who would love to grab your money or even try to assault you.

Dog Repellent will give you added protection from the bad guy who tries to get up close and personal. Squirt him in the face a few times and he’ll be down for the count, just like the dog he is! This will give you time to get away and call 911 and not become another crime statistic.

Don’t Be the Next Victim!

Using Animal Repellent

Animal Repellent:

Pepper spray or Animal Repellent will irritate the eyes and mucous membranes of animals just as it does on humans. Apply the product very much like you would with a human attacker - aim for the face, just above the eyes. If you are using pepper spray to protect yourself against an aggressive dog, spray a short burst and then stop briefly. It may be all you need to divert his attention and make your escape. If you are using pepper spray against a large animal, such as a bear, use a longer burst. Foggers work better on larger animals because they provide a greater area of coverage. If you only have a stream dispenser, make your shot count. Using pepper spray or Animal Repellent of this type, you will have to take careful aim and go for the eyes.

There are also security spray projectiles that are designed to be deployed from a weapon, such as a gun or grenade launcher, although those are used specifically by the police and military. Pepperball guns, pepper spray grenades, large volume foggers and incendiary rounds that deploy pepper spray are not items that are made available to the public. However, using pepper sprays that are available to the general consumer can be effective in giving you critical protection.

Protection Against The Dog Bite!

dogbite.jpgCertain animals are some of the dangers that people can encounter on nature walks. In fact, bears, wild dogs, cougars and other dangerous animals roam near public trails and nature parks. There were wild dogs near my home so I always need to take some precautions when I decide to take a relaxing walk. I have to be ready just in case I will be approached by a large, insane dog.

If you are in this situation, you may want to think twice about bolting. Running away from wild dogs will often make them feel superior, and so they will chase you down. A new-age dog pepper spray will be a much better deterrent against dogs and other potentially dangerous wildlife.

Because of its simplicity, the pepper spray has become quite a phenomenon these days. Having it in your possession is not like toting around a firearm. You just feel like there are no permanent results with pepper spray. The stuff was designed to incapacitate someone for a brief period of time so that you could flee. A dog pepper spray is designed the same way.

People can use a dog pepper spray to disorient and blind a dangerous dog briefly thus allowing them to escape. Animals always run off and hide when they’re injured. I purchased a pepper spray for my wife and teenager, the two ladies in my home. I advised them to carry it in their purses everywhere they go. It will probably do both the job on a wild dog and a person, although it is not a dog pepper spray. There is no sense in carrying around two when one will do.

Date Rape

November 4, 2008

rape-tshirt-homepageimagecomponent.jpgDate rape causes many serious problems. One of these problems is how the victim feels about what has happened to her. Often women are not even sure they have been raped. They think maybe that they asked for it, even though they said “no.” Whether a woman says “no” in a sexual relationship means that it depends on the woman and the circumstance. Some women mean “no” the first time they say it; others do not mean “no” even after saying it many times. This variation makes it difficult for woman who means “no” for the first time she says it. Some men become desensitized to the word because many of women in their lives do not mean it. Of a man persists in sexual advance after a woman had clearly said “no”, she might feel angry, frustrated, ignored, unimportant, and unheard. She may try to make him hear her and believe her by being more forceful physically by pushing him away. She may even scream, threaten him, try to escape, or to resort to physical violence by hitting him to make her wishes understood. Many women do know that they want in a sexual relationship but are treated as if they do not.You must be prepared at all times for this situation.  Know how to use Self Defense Weapons.

One of the strangest things about the date rape is that sometimes men commit date rape without knowing what they done. They think that women really do mean “yes” when they say “no.” They think that a woman must want sex if she goes somewhere alone with a guy. They think that if a girl flirts with a guy, she must want sex. They think that a girl owes a guy sex if he has spent a lot of money on her. So, when a guy like this forces his date to have sex, he may not even know he is raping her. He thinks he is just doing what guys are supposed to do on dates

Please don’t put yourself in a situation that would let a guy think that way.  Protect yourself always.  Carry Personal Safety Products. Whether it be Stun Guns, a Taser C2, Mace Pepper Spray or Personal Alarms.  Just do it!

bearteeth.jpgHow To Prevent Bear Attacks
Here are some other ways to avoid a bear attack.

- Talk quietly or just don’t talk at all. The time for loud noises was before you encountered the bear. Try to detour around the bear if you can. Now would be a good time to arm yourself with bear spray, bear pepper spray or some kind of bear repellent.

- Don’t run! Try to back away slowly, but stop if this agitates the bear. Keep that bear repellent ready!

- Assume a non-threatening posture. This could mean turning sideways, or bending at the knees to appear smaller.

- Don’t look straight at the bear. Bears may interpret direct eye contact as threatening. Most definatly have the bear spray ready.

- Drop something, like a water bottle or hat, to distract the bear. Don’t drop food, however, or he may come to you looking for more. Leave your backpack on for protection in case of an attack.

-Please, have the bear repellent ready  If the bear attacks, use it!

- If the bear makes contact, fall to the ground on your stomach, or assume a fetal position to protect your chest and abdomen. Lace your fingers together over the back of your neck. Don’t move until you the bear has left.

80146animal-rep.jpgPersonal Safety and Dogs

• Your first instinct will be to run away. DON’T. The dog’s chase instinct will kick in, and you know how dogs love to chase things.  Be prepared and carry an animal repellent.

• Remain calm and still.

• Let the dog sniff you.

• Do not look directly in the dogs eyes as that is a form of doggie aggression.

• In a calm but firm voice say “No! Go away!”

• If the dog lunges at you, block yourself with your purse, briefcase, or coat in order to distract the dog to give you a chance to break free and escape.

• Back away slowly.

Animal Repellent Do You Need IT?

9781587368707-dog-attack.jpgIf only People would be responsible for their pets.  I live in a town where the dogs just run wild.  Some are friendly and some not so friendly.  Therefore having an animal repellent is a must for those of us who like taking long walks or just want to be outside.

According to the CDC and Prevention in Atlanta, dogs bite nearly 5 million people in the US yearly, with over 800,000 needing medical attention and over 1000 every day visiting emergency rooms across the nation. There is truly a dog bite epidemic with children suffering the worst harm.

Educating our children on what to do and how to act when a possible dog attack may happen can be life saving. Obviously really young children should never have the opportunity to be confronted by such a bad and dangerous situation. But your child merely playing in your front or back yard can pose such a risk. Vicious dogs see young children as easy targets, they are smaller in size, and they move quickly and make high pitched noises that can threaten a dog. You should instruct your children to be calm and not approach the unknown animal. Even if the dog is on a leash a dog attack still can be provoked.

There are a number of dog bite prevention products on the market. There are many animal repellent out there.  A  Canine Repellent, which is a pepper spray. This canine repellent is a less potent pepper spray than you would use on a human attacker. Mainly because most dogs are not as big as adult humans, thus needing less strength in the dog pepper spray.  So my advise to you and family members would be to  Carrying a canine pepper spray repellent while walking, jogging or even playing at the park could save you from a potential problem.

We all love are pets, unfortunately not all pets are taught to behave correctly and in a safe manner. A precaution in any endeavor you may take is always a good idea. And carrying a canine pepper spray or some form of animal repellent just may prevent a big problem.
