According to statistics, a rape occurs every two minutes in the United States. A staggering 33% of women are likely to be raped at least once in their lives, and what is the most shocking part is that in excess of 80% of these rapes will be committed by someone the woman knew. Thus, in such a bleak scenario as far as sexual assault and rape is concerned, every woman should know how to protect herself against this heinous crime. Here are some precautions that you can take to ensure that you do not become another rape statistic.
Ways To Protect Yourself From Rape
1. Be Armed: By being armed we do not mean carry a gun or a pistol on you, but instead other safety devices and products that can be as effective as a gun but less deadly. Mace pepper spray, or even a taser C2 or stun guns are extremely effective to deter a potential rapist. These safety products are much easier to procure than a weapon and can be equally handy. In situations where you are under the threat of rape, you might find yourself in shock or without proper hand eye coordination. In such situations, a can of mace pepper foam or mace pepper spray may in fact be more useful than a regular gun.
In addition to being very effective, safety products are quite cheap too. They are designed in a manner (you can even get lipstick pepper sprays that look like a lipstick!) so as to fit even the smallest of purses, so that you can always have something handy with which to protect yourself. A great place to get the lipstick pepper spray, as well as numerous other products and devices for self defense products, Apart from a great selection of safety devices out their, the prices are unbeatable.
2. Be Cautious when Outdoors: When you are away from home, it is important to be aware of what is going on around you and be alert. Here are some tactics to use when outdoors:
• Rapists generally tend to attack women who appear to be walking along aimlessly or who do not seem very active. Thus, by being confident and walking erect and purposefully, you can deter a rapist. By carrying a self defense weapons such as tear gas, mace pepper gel, stun guns, taser C2, or personal alarms.
• If you are walking on the streets, make sure to stay away from narrow alleys or dark streets. Never ever take a shortcut through a rough neighborhood or through deserted paths and always stay on the main street.
• Do not walk by yourself after dark. Take a cab home or ask a friend to pick you up. If you must walk, make sure you walk quickly and take a route that is not deserted. Keeping your can of mace pepper spray in your hand is also a good idea.
• Do not get into an elevator alone with someone you do not know. If you do find yourself alone with the stranger, stay near the exit doors of the elevator and within reach of the control panel. When leaving your car always have your personal self defense weapons ready to shoot.
• Always know exactly where you are. In case you do find yourself in trouble and have to call someone for help, you need to know your exact location. A 911 dispatcher will also ask you your location first, so know which area and street you are on.
• A large number of women get attacked when getting into their cars. Thus, approach your vehicle with your key already in your hand so that you do not waste time fumbling for the key. Get into your car as soon as you open it and drive away always having your self defense products ready to shoot.
3. Safety at Home: The number of women who get raped in their homes is shocking! Thus, here’s what you can do to safeguard yourself when home:
• The area outside your main entrance should be lit properly so that there are no dark

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, there were over 24 million crimes reported in the U.S. during 2003. Of those, almost 5.6 million were personal crimes, while 18.6 million were property crimes. Twenty-two out of every 1,000 American households were affected by crimes of violence and 163 out of every 1,000 households were affected by property crimes. With these kinds of statistics, it’s understandable that Americans are concerned with personal safety and the safety of their homes and businesses. The Michigan State Police offer these tips for personal safety:
1. Stay alert. Keep your mind on your surroundings, as well as who is in front of you and who is behind you. Carry a person safety products such as stun guns, Taser C2, mace pepper spray or a personal alarm at all times and trust no one.
2. Walk purposefully, stand tall, and make eye contact with people around you.
3. Trust your instincts. If you feel uncomfortable in a situation, leave.
4. While driving, keep your car in good repair with the gas tank at least half full.
5. Park in well-lit areas and always lock your doors. When you exit your car have your personal safety products ready .
6. Put valuables out of sight or in the trunk.
7. Drive with the doors locked and the windows up.
8. Check the floorboards and front and rear seats before getting in your car.
9. In an elevator, stand near the controls. If someone suspicious enters, get off the elevator. Always have your mace pepper spray, taser C2 or stun guns ready to fire.
10. At home, don’t give personal information over the telephone to people you don’t know.
11. Install a peephole in your front door, and don’t open the door to anyone you don’t know. Verify the identity of service people before allowing them in. Use a wireless home security system and a wireless home security alarm.
1.Do not hide house keys in mailboxes, planters, or under doormats. 2. Do not include personal identification on key rings. 3. Have a separate ignition key to leave with mechanics or parking attendants. 4. If you lose your house keys or move into a new house, have the locks re-keyed. 5. When going away, make sure your home looks occupied. Put interior lights on timers, arrange to have mail and newspaper delivery stopped, and close and lock your garage door. 6. Install and use good deadbolt locks on your doors; lock sliding glass doors or use a dowel in the door track. 7. Trim shrubbery hiding doors or windows and cut tree branches that could help a thief climb to second story windows. 8. Make sure all porches, entrances, and yards are well lit. When it comes to personal safety, many Americans are going a step further to ensure their own personal safety and the safety of their homes and offices. Car alarms, business alarms, and home alarms are important components of personal safety. Many people carry whistles on their key rings or in their pockets; when personal safety is at risk, blowing whistles can attract the attention of passersby, who can then call for help. Some people carry mace pepper spray in their pockets, briefcases or purses, while others carry concealed stun guns to the extent that the law allows. You might also consider a taser C2. Those who leave their children in the care of others often use baby cams or other video recorders and hidden cameras to ensure that the caregivers are acting appropriately.
Women, men and children all use personal alarms. These alarms are often also called portable or handheld alarms. Such alarms are a deterrent for potential attackers and harmful individuals. The lights and sounds that are the main parts of functioning alarms are the reasons that most attackers are deterred. Every alarm has a different sound, but handheld alarms usually have the loudest and most noticeable sound. They often have high pitched and annoying sounds that anyone will take notice of and hear. These alarms are all important elements in personal security and safety.
Alarms are most often used my women. Most women carry a personal alarm instead of a weapon. They are used for self defense and to enhance personal security. Personal security is an important aspect of life and self care that people need to pay attention to anywhere, whether in cities or rural areas. Handheld portable alarms are a great tool for women, men, and children of all ages. These alarms can be carried in a purse or pocket, or even on a key chain. In cities some people may choose to carry a key chain alarm or a small alarm in their handbag or pocket. In rural areas the same alarms are carried for safety reasons.
Criminals and potential attackers do not like when a person is carrying a personal alarm. Alarms mean that a person will not go quietly. People with alarms are loud; they make a scene and try to get noticed.
The best personal alarms have loud sounds and bright lights. The sounds are often high pitched and can hurt a potential attacker’s ears. On the other hand, the lights are usually bright and are made specifically to temporarily blind an attacker.
Handheld alarms can be purchased on the Internet and in local stores. However, the internet may have a larger selection than some stores. Internet stores are a great place to purchase any type of personal security equipment.
Portable alarms are often carried as a secondary safety precaution. Most people who carry these alarms also count on a form of self defense. The two most common types of self defense are physical self defense and weapons.
Self defense comes in many forms. Some people are trained in martial arts, while other people are trained in simple self defense moves. These moves will immobilize a potential attacker.
By carrying a personal alarm on oneself an attack can be deterred in the first few seconds by activating their personal alarm and emitting an ear-piercing siren that can cause an attacker to turn and flee or at least cause enough of a distraction to make the attacker think twice.
The last thing an attacker wants is to attract attention and that’s the very job that personal alarms are designed to do. Its no coincidence that hill walkers and mountaineers pack personal alarms in their safety / survival kits in the event they may get stranded or injured and lost on a mountainside and can be located via the shrieking siren from their personal alarms.
Many personal alarms are small and unobtrusive. They are designed to blend into everyday normal attire and have the look and feel of keyrings or watches. Some personal alarms not only emit loud sirens but also spray gas that can disable the attacker momentarily giving the victim time to escape.
By incorporating a personal alarm into you or your families everyday equipage is a positive step in thinking about personal safety. Attack alarms do not cost great amounts! They are very reasonably priced and manufacturers are continuously upgrading products to make them even more of a must-have buy for the safety conscious amongst us. Its not bold to say ‘Personal alarms can save your life’ it’s more fact than statement, nowadays.
Mailbox Area
This area is one of the most dangerous and you should always keep your guard up along with some kind of personal safety products such as mace pepper spray, stun guns, a taser C2 or personal alarm. Criminals keep a close eye on mailbox sections of an apartment complex. Why? Because people are pretty predictable as to when they check their mail. Attackers like the fact that if they observe you for a few days, they can pretty much predict when you are going to check your mailbox. Usually people go to this section when they drive home from work. When you approach your mailbox, look around you. If there are a few people present, it is safer, but if you are the only one there, please be very cautious, especially at night. Always prepare your self defense product and have it in your hand and prepared to be used, prior to approaching the mailbox area.
Club House Area
Some complexes have club houses to rent them out for parties, but others have indoor recreational things such as pool and ping pong tables, pin ball machines, video games etc. Club houses can be very popular, especially on the weekends and in the evenings. Many times you will encounter people who are drinking alcoholic beverages that they brought from their apartment. It is always wise to go to club houses with a friend. Once in a while you will encounter a sore looser at a card game, for example, that can become violent and take it out on whomever is nearby. If you meet a new person, be careful on giving out your apartment number. Be aware also if someone is following you back to your apartment. If you are in fear of being followed, go to a friend’s apartment, if you know they are home. Always have your mace pepper spray or stun gun ready to spray or shoot.
Tennis Court or Pool Area
The tennis court is pretty safe because you usually are accompanied by a tennis partner. The pool area is also pretty safe since it is very open and everyone is in plain site. Even when you are alone, an attacker will avoid an area that many people can see easily. Just make sure that when you leave the pool area, you prepare your self defense product ahead of time, prior to walking back to your apartment. This is important, because, since you are in plain site, that also means that a potential attacker or stalker could have also been looking at you. Keep in mind, that if you are going to the pool on a regular basis, try to go at different times of the day. This will make your schedule less predictable. If you are alone, try NOT to go at night. Always have your self defense weapon ready for at any given time you need to be ready to shoot your taser C2, stun guns, or mace pepper spray.
Laundry Room Area
Here is another section of an apartment complex that is very dangerous. For one, it is noisy because of the machines. This noise can easily cover up someones scream or cry for help. For some reason, people feel they need to chat with whomever else is doing laundry. This can be a great tool for an assailant to get more information from you that you shouldn’t have given to him in the first place! Be careful what you tell a complete stranger. Even if he is the cutest guy, and my, so meticulous with his neatly folded laundry! Impressive right? NO! Potential attackers play a caring role to make you feel comfortable and therefore letting your guard down. Again in this situation make sure you have a self defense products readily available.
Trash Dump Area
This area is of much concern because most people dump their trash at night, after dinner. If you don’t want to wait until morning, please be very careful about this. If your trash dump area is dark, ask the apartment complex manager to install some kind of lighting around it. This may prove to be difficult but it is worth a try. You might want to consider asking a few female friends, that live there, to join in your request. Always take your self defense product with you and prepare it to be used. Always move cautiously toward the site and look around carefully as you approach. If you see someone that you do not recognize near it, maybe leaning against their car or smoking… Just turn around and go back home. You can always try later. It is better to be cautious than hurt or killed. If your trash is heavy, just set it down somewhere temporarily, where you can pick it up later. By carrying your self defense weapons you will be a target to be reckon with.
Car Parking and Building Safety
If you are planning to move to a condo or apartment complex look into the parking areas. You’ll be coming and going a lot, so it should be as safe as possible. You might also consider an Auto Dialer Security and Safety Alarm.
Buildings should be well lit at night. Walkways should be free from shrubbery so there is no hideout. Always protect yourself with personal safety products. Such as mace pepper spray, pepper spray guns, tear gas, or a taser C2. Also it would be preferable for a card swipe or code entry lock system.
There should be direct access from parking areas to the entrance of dwellings.
Car parks should be less than 200 feet from dwellings, and the path should be well lit and free from shrubbery. Carrying a self defense weapons.
Visitors’ car parks should be well lit, clearly identifiable, and visible from dwellings.
Access to enclosed car parks should be limited to residents by some form of electronic entry control device if possible. When not don’t go from your car to apartment with out some sort of personal safety products.
If it is desirable to limit access to dwellings, make sure access via car parks is monitored as well. Carry a self defense weapons.
In high-crime areas, advanced technological surveillance methods may be needed in car parks. For example, an infrared unit is available, which detects the presence of intruders - but not cats and dogs - by body heat, and automatically switches on all lights in the car park and turns them off after 15 to 20 minutes. Carry a person safety products.
If you are renting see that the unit has heavy-duty doors and locks. If you are buying you may want to make lock changes. It is safe to do so anyway. You never know who has keys to your house, so it is advisable to change your locks prior to spending your first night in your new place. Always carry self defense weapons.
Every year, 2½ million kids are hurt by hazards in the home. Parents can prevent these accidents by using a few precautions. Keep in mind that any safety device you buy should be very sturdy and you should read all the directions first.
Use safety latches on your cabinets that contain cleaning products. You can use these latches in the kitchen, bathroom and on drawers that keep knives and other sharp objects. These latches should be easy to install and sturdy enough so when a child tugs on it, it will not open easily. These latches make it much more difficult for a child to get to things that are unsafe and hopefully they get discouraged trying after a while.
Outlet covers and outlet plates are best in preventing accidental electrocution. Make sure that they can not be easily removed by children. Outlet plates are a little more expensive but it is more difficult for children to get an electrical shock. By Purchasing a Mace Kindergard Child Protection kit you have all you need at your disposal to protect them.
Help protect your children in your home with the Mace Kinderguard Child protection kit and other child protection products you will be doing your part in keeping them safe. Don’t let your child come into harms way. It is up to you to protect them. Child Safety Products are inexpensive and well worth the short time it takes to install them.

Protecting your home can be difficult. However, installing a Hidden surveillance cameras around your home can help. You can install hidden surveillance cameras around the outside of your home as well as hidden cameras inside.
1. If you invest in a home security system, make sure that you arrange it in layers. Even if a burglar manages to get past the first layer of security, they will still have more layers to get through in order to get through your home. Make it as hard on them as you can.
2. Walk around your home often, trying to “think like a burglar”. Test your equipment, and see if you can find any problems with the home security set up. Look around for potential blind spots as well.
3. Keep in mind that a lock won’t always be enough. If a burglar wanted to, he or she could easily break down the door or window(s). Thankfully, there are home security devices that can help protect doors and windows, including bars.
4. You should also consider putting up heavy drapes over your vulnerable windows. If your windows are protected with heavy drapes, it will make it impossible for a burglar to see inside your home. Hopefully they’ll be more reluctant to break into your home if they can’t see what it’s like on the inside.
5. Make sure you add layers of protection on your garage doors and windows as well. Don’t forget about security for your garage. You can also plant sharp, thorny plants right in front of all vulnerable windows. It will make it harder (and painful) for burglars to get through. Use a door brace, window alarms and hidden surveillance cameras inside your home. Place valuables in diversion safes.
6. Get an alarm system and have it installed by an expert. There are many home security alarm systems to choose from, including very basic alarm systems to hi tech and wireless. Do your home work and install a hidden surveillance cameras throughout your home.
Child sexual abuse is the deliberate exposure of minor children to sexual activity. This means a child is forced or talked into sex or sexual activities by another person. Such abuse includes touching (fondling), sexual intercourse, oral sex, pornography, and other sexual activity.
With the exception of sexual abuse among family members (incestuous relationships), child sexual abuse was not clearly described until the late 1970s….
Teaching your children early about the need for protection against sexual assault is vital in the age we live in. Teaching the very young about the good touch bad touch and letting them know it is OK to tell of even fight back. When your daughters become tweens and teenagers they need to be taught self defense tactics and even teaching them how to use a self defense products. Self defense products are easy to use and non-lethal. Prepare your daughter today no matter how young to defend herself and when old enough to carry a self defense weapon and be sure she understands how and when to use her self defense products.
There are many ways that Mace Pepper Spray can be dispersed — stream, spray, fogger and even a gel. Pepper Spray is easily carried in your pocket or purse. Just be sure to have it available, especially if you find yourself in a dangerous place.
Every day on the news we hear of another assault and even rape. It doesn’t have to be the creepy guy hiding in the shadows like in the movies — it could be your neighbor, your date or even your teacher!
Here are some tips about how you can prevent a personal assault. They are relevant whether you are carrying Pepper Spray or not. If you are carrying Pepper Spray, then your chances of getting face-to-face with an attacker will diminish even more.
- Keep your Pepper Spray handy when you are walking or jogging, especially in poorly lit areas
- If you are in your car, make sure the Pepper Spray is at the top of your purse for easy access
- Always be aware of your surroundings and stay in well-lit areas if possible
- Walk on the side of the street facing traffic
- Walk close to the curb and avoid alleys and bushes where attackers can hide
- Bad guys look for people who appear vulnerable for a sexual assault so be sure to walk with confidence and at a steady pace. Keep your Pepper Spray handy and ready to use
- If you even think that you’re in danger or being followed while walking, put your Pepper Spray in your hand and walk quickly into and area that has lots of lights and people
- Never let anyone come up to your car to ask directions. Always speak to them from a distance. Keep one hand on the wheel for a fast get-away and the other on your Pepper Spray — and be ready to use it if needed
- Be sure to look around your car and in your back seat before getting into your car, especially at night. The back seat is a perfect place for some creep to wait for you and cause trouble. Too many people just open the front door, drop their purse or packages on the other front seat and go without any attention to the rest of the car. Always have yor Pepper Spray available, whether in a canister or on your key chain
These few tips may seem just like common sense but they are often things we forget to do. Carrying Pepper Spray is NOT paranoia, is being prepared just in case… Let’s face it we live in a dangerous world and it’s getting worse every day.
Always be alert so you don’t become a crime statistic.
Just an aside — some people are afraid to use their Pepper Spray because of the damage it will do to the attacker. Not to worry because while Pepper Spray has immediate effects on the bad guy, the effects are only temporary (approximately 30 minutes) and have no permanent effects. But that allows you enough time to get away and call 911 so the police arrive while the attacker is still down.
So, if you have a need to use Pepper Spray then USE IT and get away fast! Don’t stand around admiring your work because you never know if the attacker will make a lunge or a swing at you.
